eCommerce systems can be self-hosted and managed like Magento and WooCommerce, or bought as a service like Shopify and BigCommerce. We have worked on all of these systems, and more.
Shopify, Squarespace and BigCommerce
Shopify and BigCommerce are hosted services, which means you don’t own the underlying software and are not in control of new features and improvements.
If they change functions or features, have poor performance or service, increase their prices, change their product offering or go out of business, you are out of luck. You will need to build a new store and may not be able to get your information out.
We also have found adding on functionality gets expensive and implementing custom features is very difficult.
Magento
Magento has been the best option for enterprise eCommerce and custom stores in the past, but it has not kept up with other systems. We have long experience working on both Magento 1 and 2, and it requires significant ongoing investment to get decent performance.
From a development perspective, theme creation, plugin maintenance, updates and customisation is painful and time-consuming.
These issues led us to develop an enterprise-grade WooCoomerce solution and a cost-effective migration process. All of our Magento clients have successfully transitioned to WooCommerce, and they haven’t looked back.
WooCommerce
Since 2011, WooCommerce has matured into a capable high-performance platform with an extensive range of available solutions that can support any entry to enterprise-level requirements.
WooCommerce is the most popular online store in the world because it is user-friendly, flexible, open-source and powerful. It has vast plugin and integration support and is owned by Automattic, the company behind WordPress. Anything possible in another platform, we can do in WooCommerce.
Using WooCommerce means that you own and control your destiny. You can host it where you like, and you have the power to add and improve functionality as you grow and your needs change.
